"Good." Koh flashed a wicked smirk before she snapped her fingers and her whole side was engulfed in a cloud of darkness so inky thick it was impossible to see.
Sorry to disappoint, but Koh was still a lady after all. Thankfully for her, she didn't need her eyes to feel all the clasps and buckles she needed to unfasten. She could pull her armor on in her sleep, if she wanted. All her poor roommate could hear was the faint sounds of metallic clinks as she peeled off each layer. After a few minutes, there was another snap of fingers and the obscuring black smoke disappeared. The cleric's ocean blue surcoat and chailmail was all neatly folded on her bed while the drow herself was dressed more casually still standing around the edges. Rolling her shoulders, she turns back around.
"That's much better. Been wearing that all day... It gets heavy after awhile."
Beetlejuice snaps his fingers. There's always next time.
He flops back onto his bed and folds his arms behind his head. He bends a knee and throws one striped leg over the other so that he can bob his foot in the air.
"Sounds like it. I'd hate to be behind you in airport security."
Best not to tell him that a lot of her religious practices encourages followers to wear as little clothing as they feel comfortable. Often nude. Though she only ever did that a hand full of times back when she lived at the temple.
Flopping back to sit on the side of her bed, she continued to peer up in his direction. Airport? There he goes again, using words she didn't fully understand, but she could infer that it had something to do with flying? Ugh.... flying.
"Aren't you going to tell me a little bit more about yourself? It's only fair, isn't it? All I know is that you're 'the ghoul'. Where are you from? What do you like? Have you killed someone? And why all the stripes?"
"Yeah, alright. Fair's fair!" He fishes his Leaf out again with that mysterious third arm that disappeared there for a little bit. He angles the phone so that he can snap a selfie featuring both of them.
"I'm from The Netherworld, aka the afterlife. I like long walks on the beach, Netflix and chill, and terrorizing the living. I'm what you call a bioexorcist...though I guess I'm technically retired now unless there's any ghosts in this world that need my services."
Suddenly he looks a little sad about that. That's like his whole THING. And now he's out of a job.
"Don't you think they're slimming?" Beetlejuice gestures to his paunch.
The sad expression that flash across his face did not go unnoticed. Her eyes grew sympathetic and if he was to currently still on the ceiling, he might have gotten a little reassuring brush of a shoulder.
"I guess ghouls can get home sick too." Koh nodding to herself. "Bioexorcist, huh? I must admit, that is a new one for me. Ridding unwanted living from a space? There might be need of it here, though your clientele might not be your usual. I just hope you don't plan on exorcising me from this room." A playful grin tugged at the corners of her lips, her eyes scanning over him. "They are... charming."
He glances back at his phone. He's not home sick! He's totally chill and fine! Shut uuuuuuuuup!
But when Koh suggests he might not be entirely useless here, he peeks back over at her. "No kiddin'?" He hadn't considered working for the Fey. He was kind of pissed at them currently.
And at her compliment, his grin is back like it never left. His shoulders do a little satisfied shimmy as he tucks that away to read into later.
"Of course." Koh beams brightly up at him. "I am sure your skills as a bioexorcist will come in handy somehow. Thinking about the maze I was forced to walk through, there were many living creatures I could have used your talents for." The cleric tilts her head to one side, thoughtfully. "Though there was one that spirit that wouldn't fall under your job description.... Point is, don't give up quite yet."
Beetlejuice is a little sore about getting trapped in the maze. There are many ways to confuse and trap a ghost, none of which he's willing to divulge, and he's a little unnerved that the Fey seem to know their stuff.
He studies Koh for a moment, then he reaches into one of his sleeves and tugs out a business card. He flicks it toward her and it sails through the air with ease, coming to rest safely in her hand.
"If you find yourself in a pinch, just read that out loud. I'll be there in two shakes. But don't go spreadin' it around, alright?"
The last thing he needs is to be summoned by randos while he's busy.
Koh caught the card as it magically floated over to her. Looking quite pleased to have made an new alley, she flipped the card over to inspect it closer. She felt nothing out of the ordinary coming from the scarp a paper. But the name on it....
"Don't worry, your secret is safe with me." Koh says, not taking her eyes off the card. "Betelgeuse... Betelgeuse.... Betelgeuse?"
She murmurs quietly under her breath, reading the words written there. Was this his real name?
Hearing the clap of thunder combined with her roommate's little tremble, Koh suddenly puts two and two together. What she held in her hand was something akin to a summoning scroll. And what she just said was the incantation. Gods, just reading things willy nilly was going to get her in trouble. This is why she was a cleric, not a wizard. She hopped she didn't just became an accidental warlock...
"And BJ is your first? You must of had interesting parents." She lifted her head with a questioning glance. She's really has to be more careful. He might be more powerful than he acts.
Beetlejuice's expression evens out but he sticks to his story. "BJ is the closest I can get to saying it. Also Lawrence is lame, I wouldn't pick that."
"You can't say your own name? Like a warlock contract?" The gears turned in her head. The card, Betelgeuse. BG? That was close... Must sound similar, but not exact. "It must be something to do with your 'middle name'. Its not really spelled that way, is it?"
"You're a smart cookie, Koh." He says it with a smile that shows his crooked teeth but doesn't reach his eyes. "Ma made sure it was hard to guess, I'll give her that. But there's always a loophole."
"If you were talking to my brother, he would of had you all figured out by now." There was a small tinge of sadness in her voice as she made mention of her kin. But she quickly brushed past it. "Usually when someone is forbidden to say something, it means you're bound. You're not cursed, or something are you? I'm willing to bet I already said your true name, just phonetically."
If he notices Koh's moment of regret, he doesn't mention it. Normally he wouldn't be so loose lipped but well. They're in this together and it's the first chance he's had t form any kind of bond with someone that didn't involve drugs and getting STIs.
"Oh, sorry, I really didn't mean to pry." Koh quickly added.
With all the teasing, she had forgotten her manners. Silence past between them before he spoken again. Ah, family drama... Something she knew a bit about. The cleric flashed him a sympathetic smile.
"Problems at home, huh? I am sorry to hear that. I know a thing or two about that myself."

"Not at all!"
What is this, his birthday?

A wolfish grin slides across his face. He's impressed she can pronounce it, not being from Earth. Most people can't. At least not on the first try.
"It's my middle name."

Thunder does not rumble somewhere beyond the castle's walls.

Narrowing her eyes, she levels a gaze with him.
"Why do I get the feeling that you're messing with me?"

"Anyway, so turns out my gig was fucking up the paperwork in Processing and my mom kind of blew her top about the whole thing."
